Cast from nature
These pieces are made from natural objects I have found and sent to be cast in sterling silver. The raw castings are returned to me, and I cut away the sprue (where the molten silver was poured in) and file and finish the surface before each cast element is ready to be made into jewellery. Once I have finished a batch of pieces I send them to Birmingham Assay Office to be assayed (tested to confirm the purity of the silver meets the sterling standard) and marked with their hallmark and my maker’s mark. (I don’t generally have earrings hallmarked unless they are very large.)
Acorn and cup. Cast from nature in sterling silver. £45 on a sterling silver belcher chain.
Acorns and cups are cast as separate elements and I form each stem/loop individually and drill the cup before soldering the pieces together, so each is slightly different. The acorn cup can lift and spin on the stem. This pendant comes on a sterling silver chain, usually 18 inches long.
Poppy seed head. Cast from nature in sterling silver. £35 on a sterling silver belcher chain. (A barleycorn chain is pictured.)
Each pendant has a different and individually formed stem/chain loop.
Lime tree seed. Cast from nature in sterling silver. £35 on a sterling silver belcher chain.
Other pieces cast from nature are Welsh poppy seed heads, budded twig pieces, a sprig of buds, and the tiny flower shape from the head of the poppy.
Made from sheet & wire
I also make pieces from scratch from silver sheet and wire. These are in a variety of styles and themes – see my gallery, find my cabinet at Simply Salvaged, or find me at an event, to see what I have at the moment.
Prices vary depending on the amount of work involved, but earrings tend to start at £15 and pendants may start at £30.
I currently don’t do commissions. I like to keep things relaxed and without pressures and deadlines. Sorry!
